A research can change you..

I can say without any doubt that a research can change you as a person inside out.  It’s not only a matter of gaining more knowledge but “doing research is an emotional as well as an intellectual occupation”. It involves a lot of thinking and feelings. Personally, I have been affected by my work and the results of the research. I have learned new techniques to apply in my professional practise and definitely I am more aware and I have gained more knowledge around my subject, which is injury prevention. A big role in that played t he Internet (Web 2.0). It has helped me to develop my Professional Practise but also communicate and read about what others are thinking that might have the same questions or being in the same course with me.

Methods of data collection

The research methodology describes actions to be taken to investigate a research problem and the formula or techniques used to identify, select, process, and analyze information applied to understanding the problem. (Kallet, Richard H. , Octomber 2004). There are two research methods qualitative and quantitative methods.  Quantitative method of research creates numerical data or data that can be transformed into usable statistics whereas qualitative research focuses in understanding a research query as a humanistic or idealistic approach.  Quantitative approach is a more reliable method as it is based upon numeric and methods that can be made objectively and propagated by other researchers. Module One- Monday session

On Monday’s group session, the main point discussed was the fact that we don't just give a title to our professional practice but we look deeper in to it, to see why it differs from person to person that might have the same practice with us. I could expand and understand more about my practice by describing the process I followed up to now. For example, the transition from college into practice and what I have learned after my training. This could be the experience from the auditions I had, working with kids, and lastly the return back from England to my home country. Professional Practice is not static, but it is a continual learning. It differs to each one of us based on the key aspects, personal experience and personal elements. Key aspects can be the positive relationships with my students or colleagues, the feedback and progress from my students or even the good planning and preparation. All of the above are really important for the succession of my professional pract...

First skype discussion

Today I had my first Skype discussion in a group. We were a mixture of people in different modules and that helped me to get myself started with the course and  getting to know what to do.  The best thing that I got from today's session is to schedule everything down and plan ahead so I will have a balance between my practice and my study. Furthermore, that will help me to achieve deadlines which are the most important thing. It was nice to hear that there is no right or wrong but we need to find our voice and don't be shy to express our thoughts and feelings. That gave me confidence to respond or even ask questions if I want to and don't think what people will say about it. Lastly, I understood the importance of Web 2.0. With Web 2.0 because  you have an active engagement and interaction, that helps to gain more information by commenting on people's post and ask questions or sharing ideas.
